If you’re here for the first time or not, I want to put the best foot forward. The best way for me to do such a thing is to tell you my story. Nice and lightly.
I’m Devin O’Connor. I hail from the very gracious fairgrounds neighborhood located on the Eastside of Des Moines, Iowa. I love my family, what I do, where I’m from, and the adventures I continue to find myself on. It’s given me a true sense of community and an aim to grow that inside others. To always do the best I can with the things I’m given.
You’re probably reading this because I’ve restarted a passion project of mine! Hillside Hog. A hometown Sausage and food company. A little slice of something local and fair. A little slice of me.
After many life and skills changes, I’m incredibly excited to see where this venture takes me and honestly (sweet reader), where it takes us. I’m on a mission of learning and betterment. Only made valid by a true and strong sense of bringing those around me up as well. I don’t want to be better; I want myself and everyone around me to be better.
That’s my mission. To promote a passion for community.
I’ll be doing this through empowering the age-old practice of the “cookout.”
“Potluck, Course, Family Meal, Luncheon, Brunch, Elevensies.” Starting small with a few links and some pickles all can enjoy.
I hope to help people find their community through nourishing gatherings. Laughs, connectedness-these are true parts of my core being. That’s what I’m working towards empowering.
